Franck Muller Presents 2024 WPHH Novelties: Cintrée Curvex Retrograde Hour Day & Night

One of the House’s latest additions to the timeless Cintrée Curvex collection, the Cintrée Curvex Retrograde Hour Day & Night features the signature emblematic and recognisable case shape, and is distinguished by a retrograde hour complication and a Day & Night indicator, offering a unique way to read time.

Incorporating Franck Muller’s favourite complication – the Retrograde Hour – the Cintrée Curvex Retrograde Hour Day & Night boasts a captivating hour hand that follows a 220-degree arc and snaps back to its starting point twice a day when it reaches its end at both 6PM and 6AM. Unlike the traditional hour hand that makes a full circle around a central axis, the retrograde hour hand moves only along the upper part of the dial, leaving the bottom half free from obstruction for an additional complication.

The Day & Night complication, positioned at 6 o’clock, is a true ode to timeless elegance. In this complication, a delicately crafted hand-painted disc rotates and gently transitions between a pictorial representation of daytime with its bright, sunny hues, and nighttime illustrated with stars and darker shades. This mechanism provides a visual interpretation of the day/night cycle, thus blending art and functionality.

In a bold creative surge, Franck Muller redefines the conventions of time display with a watch where the minute numerals take the place of the hours on the dial, offering a refreshing and original perspective that contrasts with a traditional dial. The Day & Night complication also doubles up as a seconds indicator with a regularly rotating second hand.

The Cintrée Curvex Retrograde Hour Day & Night symbolises the art of watchmaking by Franck Muller, merging timeless aesthetics with innovative mechanics. This timepiece is a reflection of the technical expertise and creative prowess of the Franck Muller manufacturer and represents an invitation to explore time in a renewed and poetic form.
